Trillion Red Interview is up ...

1, For those that have not heard of this Experimental Post Metal Machine before . Tell us how you came to be..

Well, I suppose since I write everything it really all stems from my relationship with music. TR’s sound originates from when I started playing in a black/death band in the early 90’s called Nepenthe, later called Ligeia (in tribute to old Swedish death metal and our other favorite bands of the time). I guess you could say those are the roots of TR. In my late teens I got sick of the Metal scene and its lack of inspiration, drama, and creativity, so I put all that music and guitar aside and branched out to all different kinds of styles and sounds. I got into a lot of Delta Blues, Dark experimental Indie, Hardcore, Classical, Opera etc….12 years later, or about 5 years ago, I felt the urge to pick up the guitar and start writing again. So the sound of TR today is really my history with music. As for the members, Max and I meet about 2 years ago through Craigslist. He was the only drummer out of many that was interested. Most wanted to play in boring rehashed death, black, neo, post whatever-the-fuck-you-call-it metal bands that play ultra fast and have zero inspiration, or anything new to add (Crap we all call it, right?) Max and I click well. He brings a very cool style to the mix. It fits perfectly I think. He is not a metal drummer, nor is he any type of particular drummer. The beats he has created for the new album are fantastic! Much improved over the EP. At that time we were just trying to figure out each other’s styles. Now we have forged a common understanding that really streamlines our song building process, and things are just tighter and mo’better.

2. Your releasing and doing this all without support of a label. Do you feel its important today to get a buzz 1st then look for label support?

My vision prior to releasing this EP was to get the buzz out and just see what happens. Various artists in the Bay Area advised that I didn’t need a label and could successfully promote on my own; and that labels would just rob you and not promote you yada yada yada….Well I bought into all that (as I think it is true in many cases), however, there are issues one most address that are sobering, like: going solo costs a shit load of money and time, and all labels aren’t necessarily bad guys and can do a lot for band. But to answer your question, I think you kinda have to get some buzz first to get a decent label.

3. Your New CDep has so many different styles going on from Metal to Prog to Hardcore to Post rock all with a futuristic element. Who are Trillion Red major musical influences?

The main ones that immediately come to mind for this particular EP are: Melt Banana, Jesu, Earth, Triptykon, Shiner (Lula Divinia), Samael (Worship Him), Calexico, Entombed/Nihilist (old stuff), Burzum, The Life and Times, Nels Cline, Pink Floyd (live in Pompeii), Beherit, Shostakovich, Chopin.

4. Your working with Clawhammer Pr but not on label how is that?? Is the leg work helping the are a major force now for may labels pr..

So far so good. Clawhammer is certainly getting TR a lot more press. I am using them both for promotion and to find a label. We just sent out a press release for labels. We’ll see what happens. I am happy with what has come so far.

5. What is a live show like ? I must be hard to sound like the songs on the album live there is so much going on do you even try?

A live show would be very possible if I had more fellas to lend a hand. If we had another guitarist, keyboardist, and a bass player, we could easily pull it off. But, we don’t, and I am not in a hurry to find anyone right now. Not that we are against playing live, but it is a very low priority for TR at this point. Just making music now is enough. The whole creation process from A – Z is something we are totally passionate about.

6. I know your looking for a proper label to release your full length. Are there any labels you would want to work with I know a few I think you would mesh well with but I like to know as a band do you have any labels in mind?

I sure would like to know what labels you think would mesh well, because I really don’t have a clue. What I am looking for is a label that has good bands (obviously), and one that is into releasing cool vinyl and cd packages. I am big on vinyl, especially ones that are packaged well. If done successfully, they are further artistic expressions of the band that have a tangible size to them, as opposed to MP3s or a cold simple CD with a plastic case, or worse, a simple paper jacket.

7. Your website http://www.trillionred.com/ is very minimalist, creepy and dark it seem to fit the bands vibe are you happy with the site . Its good to see a band not using facebook or myspace only. do you feel its important to have a proper website for bands?

Yeah, we are very happy with the site. Simplicity is of the essence. I think most people like sites that are quick, easily scanable, and functional, yet cool. Flash is nice, but it just slows page openings, and in this world, no one has the patience for that shit (at least I don’t). No load, well, off you fucking go! If a band has the means and cash to make a website, then they certainly should. I love using Myspace to vet new bands. It is a great tool for that! But Myspace in and of itself is an antiquated piece of shit. It just sucks and is very clunky. Really, any amount of exposure for a new band is a good thing.

8. Whats your thoughts on the digital age (Digital music, Webzine, Internet radio, Facebook, Twitter) do you think its a blessing or curse for bands in 2011 do you miss physical release, print mags and real college or indie radio ??

I think all these new digital tools are excellent tools for promotional purposes. I would not have found half that bands I have in my library now without the web. I have a blast searching it, reading reviews, listening to Myspace or whatever. 99% suck, but when you find that 1% gem, it is exhilarating and inspiring. Sure with new technologies, old systems become antiquated and slowly blow away in the wind, but now, the world of music doesn’t seem so isolated and lonely with all these recent tools readily at our disposal. Of course I can be nostalgic and harken back to the days in the early nineties when everything was done by tape trade and getting various obscure zines from Europe, but I prefer modernity. I don’t use Twitter, and don’t like Facebook, but we have a Facebook account. It just sits there all lonely and cold…

9. What does the newer material sound like is it similar to ep or has it gone into differ sound all together?

It is very similar to the EP. But this album will pull you in more directions then suddenly leave you hanging, then tear you right back into dense heaviness and then abandon you again. It will be heavier, and more concentric in approach I think. If you liked the EP, then you will really love the album. It is my hope that it will be one of those records that will never get old and timeless. Much much easier said than done.

10. Is there a theme or story line on " Two Tongues"?

Not a contiguous one. Perhaps a really general theme of blurred realities and distorted minds, and our failures as humans to remedy those social and cultural obstructions via laziness and/or self-defeatism.

11. Do you feel Trillion Red is more in the Metal or Experimental side for the music you create as I hear so much of both? Or are you creating your own sub genre all its own?

I really don’t know what ‘Experimental’ means. I am not trying to be flippant, but when I hear that word, I think of some guy that makes noise with very little melody and rhythm (basically not music), and calls it ‘Experimental’. Maybe I just haven’t heard enough of the genre to constitute something solid in my mind. As for Metal, yeah, with my background and influences, there are definitely big elements of Metal in my music. There always will be. I am a Metal Head at heart. Have been since I was a kid. But when I began writing again several years ago, I never ever once thought I had to write in any particular genre, style or sound. What you hear are simply things that have naturally come out of me without any preexisting ideas. When we finished this EP, we weren’t even sure what to call it. We had no clue, but just felt it was something new and cool.

New Reviews 6/25/2011

Walk Through Fire - Furthest From Heaven (Album Cover)

Walk through fire- Furthest from Heaven-CD (Aesthetic Death)

Another release from Aesthetic Death that mixes the elements of Doom, Black and Avant Metal with ambiance and industrial elements. Walk through fire are all about pain, loss and the confrontation of opposing sounds all at the same time. If Neurosis was a Black metal band I think they would clearly sound like this. There is a strong kinship to bands like Weakling and Dolorian going on here. This album is powerful in the way rituals to the Gods of old are powerful to those that envoke them. "Furthest from heaven" is a very personal album in the way its presented. The music goes from delicate to epic and crushing . Love the acoustics and deep tones that mix with wall of low end sonic guitars and vocals that are of the Post hardcore style. The drumming is the most ritual is presentation of all things going on here. The album is so massive and full in sound you can feel the sorrow coming from the very speaker. This is not an album to miss.

Wreck Of The Hesperus - Light Rotting Out (Album Cover)

Wreck Of The Hesperus - Light Rotting Out- A5 Digipak CD (Aesthetic Death)

Wow a pure black doom band I not heard this in a while. That last one would be Ancient Wisdom or maybe Heirophant. This could almost call funeral doom as its that slow but its missing the organs to present that sound. Wreck of The Hesperus has much to do with the sickness in music that are bands like Bethlethem, Shining (Sweden) or Deinonychus with a strong love of Burzum and Darkthrone .. At time I swear the just reworking Thergothon ideas into a blackend arena. I was not ready for this to be so hate filled and just down right pissed of. The vocals are of a man close to eternal damnation. Love the molasses like way the music ebbs and flows. Slow doom is just want make me happy in this sick and corrupted mind. Most will find this a journey they can not travel and it will drive them mad. For this reviewer this is nothing more special they painfully slow doom that can rip the very soul from your body.. The drums are so cold and the drone of the bass and guitar .. Ahhhh yesssss. Get this now....

ZWEIZZ & JOEY HOPKINS- S/T-CD (Jester Records)

Well what the hell do you think your going to get from Jester records. Its experimental, avant, noisy , jazzy and pulsing electronic madness. If you like Power noise and Industrial Doom then this collab will just punt you to the floor. It has so much in common with an amazing band called Phantomsmashers and Venetian Snares. I would call this Electro Breakcore with some full on Power noise elements. Love the eastern elements mixed in with the full decomposed drum and loops going on. If you like When you will hear a lot of this worship going on as well. Too bad this can never happen again as Joey Hopkins passed away before another can be created. This is a brilliant testimonial to a team of musician that can make the impossible possible. I love this release its twisted, original and just done right inventive and there could be not better home for this then Jester records. Enough said...

Aurvandil- Yearning- CD (Eisenwald)

I know some bands like this get into a similar sound or ideal due to the use of the term post black metal but with Aurvandil there is an elements of the hypnotic, frozen, occult and ethereal all in the same piece of the same song. Bands like Aurvandil from the Heathen world of old and feed us the lore and myth of a time when the world was about adventure, mystery and the unknown. Aurvandil is music for the warrior in all of us if we just let it out. Folk, Viking, Black and Avant metal are all bleeding from the songs of these metallic craftsmen. Falkenbach, Burzum, Leviathan etc these are the bands that Aurvandil embrace and live by there codes. Let the viking warship set sail and the next journey continue we need bands and music like this just to not forget....

Locus Mortis- Inter Utterum Et Loculum-CD (ATMF)

Haunting and Not of this world are the 1st two thoughts that come to mind when I listen to Locus Mortis. This is thinking mans Black metal and odd term I know but its so layered in the way its presented . I really don't have a way of explaining it in a better fashion. There is melodic, blistering riffs, throat griping vocal, harmonies and darkened ethereal tones all going at the same time. Locus Mortis is the some of all parts and as you listen to it more and more it draws you in like a moth to a flame. Bombastic is but just one element going on here. These kind of songs are where lost battles come from and rip there ugly heads back up centuries later. Locus Mortis is a war machine of metal never once think different but even a war machine has moments of beauty and brilliance and its all here my friends its all here...

Enablers- Blown Realms And Stalled Explosions-CD (Exile on Mainstream)

Hell ya Enablers are back with another album of Post Rock, Spoke word poetry and just down right awesomeness... Yes this is the same band that put out two the best albums of the Neurot label period. If like bands like Oxbow , Polvo , The Doors and Rodan then you must run and not walk to get this I with all truth in what's left in my heart think Exile on Mainstream is becoming one of my all time favorite labels with the experimental rock and noise rock they are releasing there taking the void of labels like 1/4 stick, Amrep, SST, Subpop and Matador. The soft jazzy elements mixed in with the heavy Post rock sounds of bands like Slint, Russian Circles, Set fire to flame etc.. Love the deep and thought provoking spoken words that are match only by the stellar guitar, bass and drum work. The Beat poets in the heavens or hell below smile just a bit when they hear Enablers (San Frans finest sons!!)

New Reviews 6/19/2011

Dim Arcana - Ars Populi-CD (Black Drone)

Remember the days of Dark Vinyl, World Serpent, CMI and Cold Spring when Neoclassical and Noise would merge into an experimental aural experience. Dim Arcana have a lot in common with project like Protagonist, Raison D Etre, Valefor and Blood Axis in what I hear this seems to be all in latin and works well with the Dark Drones, Klanks waves of reverb and martial simple percussion and the elements of harsh noise the wave through out the album as we build within this journey. There is a creepy demonic element to Dim Arcana as well. At think it almost Black Industrial but has to much ambiance going on . Cased with in a lush digipak with a 12 page booklet . Black Drone lives up to there name with this haunting soundscape as a backdrop to the new dark age.

Bloodsoaked- The Death of Hope-CD (Comatose Music)

So what we have here is the third album by the one man Death metal machine. Peter has again given us a view in to a more classic Melodic Death metal sound that is very much what you remember from the good old day of Earache, Roadracer and Nuclear Blast . When Death metal was about the riffs, brutality and creativity that made it something exciting to listen to. The Songs and arrangement's are amazingly well done here. The vocals are so well done you would swear your listening to an old Morbid Angel, Vader or Deicide album . The songs are more complex then last time but still hold that catchiness that is needed for this very important sound of American Death Metal. Bloodsoaked always has the extreme thrash element of bands like Kreator or Forbidden going on that just adds the extra layer of coolness to it all. I really think No God is by far my favorite song on this album... Raise your horns high as this will be the album to take Bloodsoaked from the indies to the big leagues.

Planks- The Darkest of Grays/ Solicit to Fall-CD (Southern Lord)

Post Hardcore, Sludgecore, Doom Punk call it what you want all I know is it simply kicks ass. Think of Earlier Neurosis mixed with Today is the day, His Hero is Gone, Crowbar and healthy dose of Kiss it Goodbye and Isis for good measure. If you like th Deep Six, Slam a ham, Pessimister days of sludge doom and noise rock then Planks is something you should be all over this band really has it all Melody, Power, Low end, Massive riffs and vocals that can take down a mountain lion. Southern Lord limited releases are becoming some of the favorite gems of 2011. I really was missing music like this very grateful to have it back and in such a passionate manner. Planks mixes so many sounds and styles into what becomes all there own. It really goes from delicate guitar moments to full on wall of sonic destruction through out this release. Again get this at all costs such a great release I need to hear more now..

http://southernlord.com/

Trillion Red- Two Tongues-CD EP ( Self Released)

Let's start with this is one twisted ass event in the making . Trillion Red is like if you had Devon Townsend, Satyricon, Polkadot Cadaver and Mike Patton have creation focused on making Avant hard rock that was influenced by Voivod, Pink Floyd and AC/DC all at the same time. I think I'm in love with this band they have opened my eyes on how extreme experimental heavy rock can be polished, groovin and down right amazing. If Trillion Red can not find a proper Distro and Label home to get this out to the masses then there is a major crime in the worlds ears. As this could be a new musical revolution . Trillion is really that good think Virus, Enslaved and Red Harvest all wrapped up into a stew of music brilliance. Mandatory listening here ... I will be trying to get interview with this band for sure . This duo needs to get the word out on all they do. Brilliant sheer Brilliance...

So Hideous , My Love- To Clasp A Fallen Wish With Broken Fingers-CD ( Play the Assassin)

I know nothing of this band just got this from the Earsplit Pr camp and from the influences that are being used I need to hear this Ep and really see if if its Post Blackened Rock with elements of Orchestral and Neoclassic movements. As it starts it reminds me of a cross between Circle, Godspeed your black emperor then goes is some crazy Post Hardcore vibe.. If Wolvserpent, Wolves in the Throne room and Dead Can Dead were all influenced by Noise Rock and Punk rock then I think I can see very much were this band came from . The strings are down right soul aching in beauty and the power the rock side of this band has is really second to none . I don't think Play the Assassin label with be unknown for long with a release like this . All they have to do is open for a bigger band and they will explode on the scene like a plague and there will be no turning back. This is so delicate and epic at the same time words can really not come close to just hearing this. This band and the music will change you forever towards both the light and the dark.. Hats off to this grow you have me stunned and thankful I got to hear this all at the same time.

Konsortium Interview Is Up
The Konsortium
The Konsortium

1. Tell us for those not in the know how The Konsortium came to be?

#001:
We started up around 2003, after I moved from Oslo. For many years it was more of a lose project, and we didn´t have any ambtitions at all. A ”normal” band was impossible, as the members are scattered all over the place, so things just took it´s time. After we finally got our act together and released a demo in 2008, things started rolling… slowly, but still: we´re moving in the right direction.

2. There is a mix of Post Black Metal, Prog Rock and Viking metal elements I can hear. Were did the sounds come from. I can hear Arcturus, Borknagar as well as the later Emperor sound. Would you say those are influences?

#001:
Fuck, what IS post black metal? There´s something I must have missed here… But yeah, it´s cool that you notice some prog rock in there. Viking metal is something that I have never listened to, unless you count early Enslaved. Perhaps you refer to the more ”folksy” parts of Lik Ulven, and if so, I can see your point.
The bands you mention are good bands. I haven´t listened to any of the latest albums of Arcturus and Borknagar, so I don´t really know what they sound like nowadays. Skilled musicians, that´s for sure, so you mentioning them in connection with our stuff is kind of a compliment, I guess… or?
There´s not a single band that influences us more than others, though… at least not at the time being. What I always strive for, is the right feeling or vibe, and often that results in a sort of controlled aggression, a mix between sharp complexity and chaos. If something happens to resemble another band, I don´t care that much, as long as you hear that it is honest and that it´s usInfluences from the music one listens to will always be audible – but there´s no point in being a copy of others.

3. How did you come to work with Agonia a label seems to be growing by leaps and bounds in Experimental or Avant metal scenes..

#001:
Yeah, maybe they do? I don´t know that many of their bands, but I like the weirdness of Angstskvadron, and this German band Beissert released a groovy piece of music on Agonia as well. In advance I knew that Urgehal (at the time) and Krypt was in their rooster, which are bands I like. They have some strong black metal bands, maybe not the most profiled names, butt hat doesn´t matter as long as it is quality. Anyways, long story short, they got in touch, and after some discussions back and forth, we were on board. I´m no businessman, but so far we have been treated fairly, and they seem to really prioritize what we do. In other words, all is well.

4. Will The Konsortium be performing live at all as I think a live show would be inventive and visual stunning?

#001:
This is our biggest challenge at the time. Being a consortium (yes), with members involved in other bands, etc… It´s not the easiest thing, getting to play live. But we´re working on it, indeed. We were finally ready for a gig now in June, but of course things fucked up as usual. First with members, then with stuff completely beyond our control.
But when we do get our asses up on stage, it will be glorious... It´s going to cost, as there is no point in turning up with masks and the whole package without a proper stage production… but that´s the way it has to be.

5. Whats The Konsortium thoughts on the current digital age. Are you fans of Myspace, Digital music formats, Webzine or Internet Radio or do you miss the day of old promotion and CD, Radio and Fanzines..

#001:
I have one foot in each world. I prefer a physical format and only buy vinyls myself, but at the same time I appreciate the convinience of having Spotify and similar stuff around, as it enables you to discover a lot of new music in an easy way. Webzines are cool, there´s nothing wrong with them - still, I miss getting paper zines in the mail, hehe. What I DON´T like, is the downloading thing. Not so much because there´s money being lost, but because it kills the music experience in many ways. So much stuff is now too available, it´s just something you throw away after one listen. No magic left. You can´t have that same genuine experience of an anonymous mp3 file from some site, with no cover, no nothing… Sure, it´s still music, but there´s a jpg. (IF you are so lucky) in stead of a proper cover, there´s no liner notes… It´s sucks. But enough about that. As for radio, I only listen to NRK P1 and P2. Debates, political analyses and such. For old people I guess, but that´s how I want my radio.

6. Will there be a Dvd or long form videos from the album the songs are so well built for them?

#001:
A video has been planned for some time now. Still not sure if it will happen, it all depends on the finances. If we don´t get the sum needed, we will not do the video at all. We can work on a budget, but we will not compromise on the quality and the final result. I mean, there´s just no point in doing anything half-way. If you want a bad metal video with gross overuse of cheezy video effects, just search up some idiots on Youtube.
A DVD? Sure, we could do that, but I don´t think it will happen in this lifetime, for the above mentioned reasons.

7. Is there a running theme for you Debut or is it just a collection of complex and layers Post Metallic journey?

#001:
Hm… no such thing as a running theme. It´s all chaos, whith a slight element of control in there somewhere. There is a musical thread to be found of course, but lyrically? No way.

8. Why If I may ask is there different artwork for CD and Vinyl?? of you Debut..

#001:
Again, there´s a lot of chaos. And there is control. This goes for the music, the lyrics and the aesthetics. The CD design, done by Trine & Kim, represents the sharp, diciplined side. The vinyl design, done by Costin of Twilight 13 Media, represents the opposite. They are both very important and real sides of the Konsortium, so it´s the way it has to be. In addition, as I mentioned, I want a record to be something else than just a digital file or some other boring shit. It should be spectacular, and that´s why we put a lot of energy into these things.

9. There is a very futuristic sound to The Konsortium was this done on purpose or did it just evolve to this?

#001:
This is absolutely not done on purpose – I mean, the compositions are of course well thought through, but none of us ever thought ”Let´s go futuristic on this track!”. It all depends on the listener, I guess. If you want futuristic, check out this Japanese artist called Tomita from the seventies. He released an album called ”Dance of the Chickens” or something. That´s the future for you. He must have used 700 kilos of synthesizers on that stuff.

10. What are the members of The Konsortium listening to genre or style doesn't matter ?? Just wondering what is on your playlists these days?

#001:
I have no clue of what the others are listening to at the moment, but I do know that genre has no meaning at all. I have always listened to all kinds of music, and have never cared about whether it´s a certain kind of metal, etc. If it´s good, it´s good. Teloch sent me a text regarding ABBA the other day, and mr. Waldejer has very weird musical preferences… so anything goes, really. Like #005? He doesn´t listen to music at all. Myself, I listened to some Beatles today. And then some Possessed. Before night falls, I´m sure that I will have given the Demonaz LP another spin. It´s great, a ton of Bathory vibes on that album.

11. If there was one project or artist The Konsortium could collab with who would it be and why?

#001:
That´s a difficult one… There´s a whole bunch of people that would be interesting to collaborate with. I´d think I´d really like to work with Michael Gira and/ or Jarboe from Swans. The sheer intensity of what they have done in the past is reason enough. And Ravi Shankar, to get some more magic in there. Of course, add some drone riffs from Tom G. Warrior. Yeah, that would work. This list could have been much much longer, though.

12. Where do you see the sound of The Konsortium going with future releases I hear alot of DHG and Industrial elements that could be flowing in the future ?

#001:
Who knows what will happen in the future? I am up for anything, as long as it´s not done a hundred times before. Some of the new stuff is a bit more dynamic and erh… ”retro”, so to speak. A bit more Hawkwind/ King Crimson, perhaps. Maybe we´ll head more in that direction. But I suspect there will always be some fierce discipline to be found in the midst of it all, even though it might be chaotic and/or eclectic. And some darkness, that´s hard to avoid.

13. .Thank you for the time any closing thoughts here..

#001:
Thanks for the interview Clint, keep up the good work with the ´zine.

New Reviews the Comatose Music Edition 6/12/2011

Abuse- Like a Virgin-CD (Comatose Music)

Brutal, Guttural and Ultra low Death/Gore metal just like they madmen have made for over 3 decades now. This not blistering fast. Its clearly just face smashing with odd little samples between most of the tracks. I truly can not understand a word of what they are saying but I will tell you Abuse have a love of Morbid Angel, Embalmer and Altar to name a few. looks like this is a reissue from 2001 . The band will most definitely walk you on the bleaker and sicker side of the Death metal experience . Really like the Grind,Death element going on at time I think I'm listening to early Napalm Death.. If just those vocals are so damn gurgled and I can't understand them at all. the Screamo ones I really find work better as it gives you more Human Remains feeling to the band. Check them out this is over the top even 10 yrs later.

REGURGITATION -CLITORALDECTOMY-CD (Comatose Music)

Someone really love the older Death metal days of relapse at this re minds me of Mortician, Incantation and Suffocation in the way there death metal is created, Tuned low, played as fast and blistering as you can and add a guttural war machine to the vocal end of this. This is Technical Death metal to say the least. The drummer should almost be a machine in the way and how complex and fast this is. Welcome to the world of triggers. The cover art is just what you expect from a band and project with a name like this. Those so far this album has impressed me from Comatose. It's another reissue form close to 10 yrs ago. The only real down side is its just an ep of 5 tracks and one ( The last track) is a Suffocation cover .. The production and remastering has really made the music shine. These guys can play. Regurgitation are a great Death metal band and this makes me want to hear more.

DISFIGURED -AMPUTATED GOREWHORE-CD (Comatose Music)

Well this the 3rd out 5 titles sent to me this is the 1st to have a real catchy groove going on and one of the punchiest Bass sounds I've ever heard in Death metal. This is almost more like Heavy Proggish Thrash with Death metal vocals . I really think I'm listening to more bands like Possessed, Early Athiest or even some Celtic Frost in the way this was created and brought about. It does getting some really fast slamming parts but as a whole its more about the tones and layers of guitars and bass with a drummer that could be a jazz player as well as death metal master. This were the Atheist side comes from I think. I really like this band. Disfigured is the 1st one I would call excellent out of the three I've reviewed. They make me want to mosh it up in a pit and you can asked for more in Death metal really.

BROKEN GRAVESTONES -LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE (Comatose Music/ Sevared Records)

Man I love the old death metal sound and with Broken Gravestones that just what you get think Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Grave, Dismembered etc. It feel like those early Earache/Nuke Blast days with the polka beats, Chest pounding vocals. The mid tempo guitars and bass that from time to time go into a blistering frenzy. With Kam Lee of Massacre fame on vocals how can you really go wrong. There is so much in common with Bolt Thrower with this band in music, sound and arrangement I love it. The slower double kick drumming is what does it for me with the very slayer influenced guitar solos. I really hope we get to hear more from this band as this is what Death metl has always been about for me brutal, powerful, talented and just fucking good metal..

Aborted Fetus- Fatal Dogmatic Damage-CD (Comatose Music)

I just don't get bands like this . Its so clear that they musically are very talented in the Extreme Tech Death metal genre and then the fuck it all up with a vocalist that one sounds like 200 others and is just burping and squealing like at dying pig. If a band like Aborted Fetus could just get out of the gore/screamo vocal style this band would be so much more respected in all the extreme music arenas. Its like paint by the number vocalist almost and hey lets have another terminator end of world scene on the front cover while were at it. The music is just to good from this gentlemen. There is so much potential here really...
